Schull Community College has been providing sailing courses, including sailing courses for disadvantaged young people through the V.E.C. scheme, since 1986. The F.M.O.E.C provides a purpose built centre for courses of this nature, with its broad range of teaching, and sailing facilities. Sailors from Schull Community College have been winners of the Irish National 420 Championships on a number of occasions, have represented Ireland at World 420 Championships and the World Junior Championships, have represented Ireland annually in the International Schools Team Racing Championships and have won the World Mirror Championships. The renowned Fastnet International Schools' Regatta, held at the College since 1988, is attracting ever-increasing international interest.
