The Fastnet Marine & Outdoor Education Centre
at Schull Community College

Located on the foreshore of Schull harbour with direct access to the water,
Fastnet Marine & Outdoor Education Centre is part of the campus of Schull Community College.

Schull Community College has been providing sailing courses, including sailing courses for disadvantaged young people through the V.E.C. scheme, since 1986. The F.M.O.E.C provides a purpose built centre for courses of this nature, with its broad range of teaching, and sailing facilities.

The pupils of Schull Community College have not been slow to grasp the advantages of this resource, as their competetive record shows. Sailors from Schull Community College have been winners of the Irish National 420 Championships on a number of occasions, have represented Ireland at World 420 Championships and the World Junior Championships, have represented Ireland annually in the International Schools Team Racing Championships and have won the World Mirror Championships.
The renowned Fastnet International Schools' Regatta, held at the College since 1988, is attracting ever-increasing international interest.

The Centre is also a recognised third-level training location, thanks to a successful Post-Leaving Certificate course in outdoor sport and education.
Initally a one year course, this has been expanded to a two year full time course, providing instruction in a broad range of sports, and sports industry, related areas.
