Dinghy Sailing Instructorship | Developed locally in the Fastnet Marine and Outdoor Education Centre, this module includes: sailing skills and related theory from beginners right up to Level 5; instructional techniques; power boat handling; V.H.F. Limited Operators Licence. |
Kayak Instructorship | Catering for all (learners and proficient) and developing skills up to Instructorship level, the module includes: performing rescues; negotiating water of grade 1 and 2 difficulty; development of canoeing within a club environment; maintenance of a suitably equipped kayak and personal canoeing equipment. |
Windsurfing | Participants will develop windsurfing skills to Instructorship level. |
Sport and Recreation Studies | This module gives an overview of the whole leisure industry and how the participants can contribute to its development. |
Communications | In this module participants have the opportunity to develop their verbal and non-verbal communication skills. |
Information Technology Skills | Information Technology is now an integral part of sport, recreation and leisure industry and proficiency in I.T. is essential in the management of this industry. |
Work Experience | The placement of all candidates in relevant work-places affords them the opportunity of employing the skills and theory developed and learned in the other modules. |
